The Slimline Pan-Tilt-Roll Unit is the principal part of the head.
The Slimline Head is a highly compact and very fast Pan-Tilt-Roll camera head. Its highly compact form makes it ideal for weaving a camera in and out of confined spaces and it offers a greater freedom of movement within those confined spaces, for that perfect angle. They have even been used through car windows in commercials, without having to modify the car in any way.
The base of the pan-unit is anchored to its mount (most commonly a motion control rig) by way of a large diameter locating ring. This greatly enhances the rigidity of the head and therefore reduces camera wobble. It brings precision, rigidity and speed to the control of the camera, and its compact design gives total versatility in differing set environments.
The pan, tilt and roll axes are aligned so that they intersect at a point. The BNC style locking device for the camera aligns the camera's optical axis so that it will roll about the cross-hairs on the ground-glass. This, and the rigidity of the Slimline, allows a shot to be matched seamlessly with a 3D animation sequence in the digital domain.
